Mistakenly reported as deceased on credit report

I nearly fell off my chair when I checked my credit report and saw "DECEASED" stamped next to my name. I mean, I'm very much alive and kicking, paying taxes, and dealing with everyday struggles. How on earth did they manage to write this?

My credit score took a nosedive, loans are getting rejected, and I can forget about that dream car I wanted. It's a real mess.

So, here's where I need your help. Has anyone been through this mistakenly reported dead nightmare? How did you fix it? Do I need to lawyer up and throw a mistakenly reported dead lawsuit their way?

I'm desperate for guidance!
