"Baby Shark Dance," the children's' video backed by the insanely catchy tune "Baby Shark," has just become the most-viewed YouTube video of all time, taking the title from the music video for Luis Fonsi's "Despacito."

Baby Shark, Pinkfong's global hit song about a family of sharks, has climbed the charts and connected with fans around the globe. After entering the Billboard Hot 100 at #32, the song has been recording a 14-week streak in the Top 50, while topping the Kids Digital Song Sales Chart as #1. The Baby Shark Dance video has over 2.7 billion views, making it the 10th most viewed video in the history of YouTube.

The position is mostly thanks to a sudden boost in streaming growth as well as the drop-off of holiday tunes post-Christmas. "Baby Shark" earned 20.8 million streams for the week ending Jan. 3, peaking at an impressive No. 16 on the streaming songs chart. This is the first time the track has charted on the Hot 100, only just becoming eligible due to changes in how the chart operates. Pinkfong, a South Korean media company specializing in educational content for children, dropped the song in 2016.

"Baby Shark Dance" has assumed the title of the most watched video in YouTube history. Smartstudy, the parent company of the children's entertainment brand Pinkfong, said that as of Nov. 2 at 1:20 p.m., the nursery song video amassed 7.037 billion views to take the top all-time spot on the video sharing platform. The previous record holder was the music video of Luis Fonsi's hit "Despacito," which had reigned from August 2017.Running 2 minutes, 16 seconds, "Baby Shark Dance" was released in June 2016 by Pinkfong on its YouTube channel. The video features children singing the "Baby Shark" song with a catchy chorus and easy dance movements.American actress Amanda Cerny in September 2017 danced to the song on an Indonesian TV program, captivating children especially in Southeast Asia."Baby Shark" has versions in 19 languages including Korean and English, and renditions of the hit have spanned several genres including gugak (traditional Korean music) and electronic dance music.Last year, the song ranked 32nd on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and sixth on the U.K. Singles Chart. The Washington Nationals, a U.S. Major League Baseball team, used the song as its anthem during their World Series-winning season last year.

Pinkfong's Baby Shark, already the most viewed video on YouTube, has now surpassed 10 billion views, making it the first video in the platform's history to do so. To put things in perspective, the world's population is currently around 7.8 billion. This means that if everyone living has viewed Baby Shark Dance even once, a little over 2 billion people would still be left. On January 13, the video for the catchy children's song broke the 10-billion mark, widening the gap between it and the No. 2 video, Despacito, by Puerto Rican pop stars Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee. 041b061a72
