Plot summary
The film starts with Thakur Shamsher Singh (Amrish Puri), a wealthy and powerful criminal who is involved in smuggling and drug dealing. He has never been arrested as he has several high-ranking politicians and police officials on his payroll. When an editor of a newspaper exposes him, he has the entire family ruthlessly killed.
When he finds out that Superintendent of Police Kundan Singh (Dharmendra) has been transferred from Delhi especially to apprehend him, he tries to befriend him. But when Kundan refuses to either be bribed or threatened, Thakur hatches a plan to eliminate Kundan's entire family.
Kundan's wife Jyoti (Jaya Prada) is kidnapped by Thakur's men and tortured. Kundan manages to rescue her but she dies in his arms. Kundan vows to take revenge on Thakur and his associates.
Kundan teams up with Shanno (Farha Naaz), a dancer who is also Thakur's mistress. She helps him infiltrate Thakur's mansion and gather evidence against him. Kundan also gets support from his loyal friend Pinto (Mahesh Anand) and his colleague Inspector Sawant (Mahavir Shah).
Kundan confronts Thakur in a climactic showdown where he kills him and his henchmen. He then surrenders to the law and is hailed as a hero by the public.
